Remote Art is the business of sole proprietor: Sally Kunze.
It was founded in early 2022, just before retirement from the practice of architecture.
Background
Sally Kunze has always been interested in art. Formative early influences included artwork by both father and grandfather, as well as an appreciation of the wonders of the natural world displayed around us. The study and practice of architecture plus being shown some art techniques along the way (e.g. how to do a watercolour wash in the subject ‘Visual Communications’), have influenced artistic style evolved. The watercolour style preferred, relies on ink line-drawings for the painting framework.
The artist’s favourite medium is waterproof ink & watercolour, on 300 gsm rough watercolour paper.

Painting as stress relief
Painting was also a stress relief mechanism, during the 35 years spent in the construction industry. Subjects depicted during this time were landscapes, usually from trips to remote locations, i.e. escapism from people and buildings. During the 10 years spent in the Northern Territory, exploration of the wilderness areas around Darwin, provided a major kick-start in compiling a photographic repertoire of remote area landscape subjects.

Recent past art directions
Attending competitions & exhibitions since 2017, it has been interesting observing various subjects, methods and techniques applied / displayed by others, to assist in endeavoring to evolve further as an artist.
Watercolour skies have been created as either defined with outlines; or blended when wet, with a number of layers being necessary (& complete drying in between layers).
Refer to the ‘Recent try-outs’ page for different subjects & mediums tackled lately.

Sales
None of the paintings on this particular page are for sale; they have all been disposed of.

No GST reporting
While Remote Art does have an ABN number (on the ‘Contact’ page),
the amount of income generated by the sale of artwork, is highly unlikely to ever reach the threshold for GST reporting, as small-scale art is classed as a ‘hobby’ for taxation purposes.
